Rule N° 1 - Cardio.... (aka WF Woman survivor) - And Counterblast introduction

nulla di nuovo sul fronte della pittura ma moltissime novità dal punto di vista del modellismo in genere...
Prima di passare a qualcosa di COMPLETAMENTE diverso, ho dipinto una sopravvisuta realizzata con i pezzi della Wargames Factory e devo dire che non mi dispiace..

nothing new on the painting front but many news about my modellism skills in a more global way...
Before we move on to something COMPLETELY different, I assembled and painted a female survivor made ​​with Wargames Factory bits and I must say that I like her..

Alcuni di Voi l'hanno già vista e mi scuso se ripropongo lo stesso modello ma, ultimamente, non mi sono dedicato più alla pittura in quanto ho deciso di provare a scolpire alcuni modelli da zero (diciamo che Zerloon mi ha finalmente convinto a provare).
Di conseguenza mi sto dedicando anima e corpo a questa nuova attività al punto che sto anche valutando di partecipare a questa gara per motivarmi (senza velleità di vittoria ovviamente).
Recentemente ho partecipato al COUNTERBLAST Kickstarter fatto da Patrick Keith e, devo aggiungere, che ho sempre apprezzato la fantascienza "retrò" e sbruffona. E' per questo motivo che ho deciso di scolpire dei modelli scanzonati e simpatici da, eventualmente, utilizzare in Counterblast quando sarà il momento.
Per ora è tutto, a breve vi farò vedere quello che sto ottenendo anche se, purtroppo, non potrò mostrare i modelli che vorrei iscrivere alla competizione a causa del regolamento.
Fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate e, soprattutto, auguratemi buona fortuna!! ;)

Some of you have already seen it and I apologize if I propose it again but, lately, I have not dedicated myself much to painting since I decided to try to sculpt some models from scratch (Let's say that Zerloon finally convinced me to try).
As a result I am dedicated body and soul to this new activity to the point that I'm also considering to enter this competition to motivate me (no hopes of winning of course).
I recently took part to the Counterblast Kickstarter done by Patrick Keith (nice Guy, really!) and I must add, that I have always loved "Pulp retro" science fiction with boaster Characters. It's for this reason that I decided to sculpt some light-hearted and funny models to possibly to use in Counterblast when the time comes.

That's all for now, shortly I'll show you what I'm achieving though, unfortunately, I can not show the models I want to enter to the competition because of the rules.

Zomtober 2013 - Week 4

questa settimana si conclude lo Zombtobre, anche se la mia produzione non è minimamente paragonabile a quella degli altri partecipanti a questa simpatica iniziativa, devo dire di essere soddisfatto del fatto di aver grosso modo rispettato (escludendo il ritardo iniziale) le scadenze.

Hi everyone,

this week ends Zombtober, even though my production is not remotely comparable to that of the other participants to this nice initiative, I must say I'm pleased with the fact that I roughly respected (excluding the initial delay) the one miniature per week objective.

Questa settimana ho deciso di completare uno degli Zombi di Zombicide gentilmente donato da Lord Siwoc in ringraziamento per alcune miniature che avevo dipinto per lui...  Johnny doveva inviarmene solo tre ed invece è stata una piacevolissima sorpresa scoprire che il mio Danese preferito mi aveva spedito una copia di tutti gli Zombie del gioco base... :)

This week I decided to complete one of the Zombicide Zombies kindly donated by Lord Siwoc in gratitude for some miniatures that I painted for him ... Johnny had to send me only three of them, and instead I had the pleasant surprise to discover that my favorite Danish guy had kindly sent me a copy of all of the Zombies of the basic game ... :)

Studio Miniatures plastic Zombie!!! Almeno uno è fatto...

Dopo una lunga attesa nella quale mi sono dedicato ad altri progetti, ho finalmente trovato il tempo di dipingere l'unico Zombie in plastica della Studio miniatures che avevo assemblato..
Essendo il primo di una lunga serie ho deciso di dedicarmici con un pizzico di attenzione in più senza dimenticare che mi stavo comunque dedicando ad uno zombie! ;)

After a long pause , I've finally decided to find the time to paint the lone Studio miniatures plastic zombie I've already assembled..
Since this will be the first of a long serie, I've decided to dedicate him a little more attention without forgetting that I'm about to paint a Zombie! ;)

Devo dire di essere soddisfatto, il modello si pulisce senza sforzo e rapidamente, anche se i dettagli non sono molto marcati, la qualità è eccellente.... Ora altri 79!!!
Spero che il modello vi piaccia, come al solito i vostri commenti e consigli sono graditissimi...

I must say I'm satisfied, the miniature was rapidly and easily cleaned, even if the details aren't really "sharp", the quality of the model is excellent... Now I've got 79 more to do!!!
I hope you like it, as always your advices and comments are really appreciated...

Guerra Franco-Indiana - French and Indian war - Parte 3

niente pittura quest'oggi.. Dovete sapere che una buona fetta del tempo che passo sulla rete cercando "pupazzetti", lo passo in realtà cercando buone immagini di comparazione fra modelli di varie ditte che mi permettano di confrontare effettivamente la vera scala dei pezzi... Parliamoci chiaramente, anche se una miniatura viene indicata come 28mm, questo non vuol dire assolutamente che sia compatibile con il 28mm di un'altro scultore/ditta.
Volendo iniziare in maniera seria il progetto "Guerra Franco-Indiana", avevo letto da varie parti che i modelli di 3 delle principali ditte con un corposo numero miniature in catalogo erano in realtà diversi in quanto a dimensioni..
Avendo ricevuto alcuni degli ordini di cui vi parlavo nel mio precedente post, ho avuto modo di notare che, effettivamente, vi è un'importante differenza, particolarmente tra i pezzi Conquest (ora venduti da Warlord Games) molto piccoli e quelli North Star molto più grandi.

no painting today.. You should know that a good portion of the time I spend on the net looking for "miniatures", I'm actually looking for good comparison pictures between models of different companies to allow me to actually compare the true scale of the models... As you all know, even if a miniature is advertised as 28mm, this absolutely does not mean that it is compatible with the 28mm from another sculptor/company.
Wanting to start in a serious way the "French and Indian War" project, I read from around the net that the models of 3 of the major companies with a substantial number of usable miniatures in catalog were actually different in size ..
Having received some of the orders I mentioned in my previous post, I have noticed that, indeed, there is an important difference in size, particularly between the models from Conquest (now sold by Warlord Games) very small, and the North Star ones.

Come potete vedere, la differenza è sostanziale anche se non lo è abbastanza da rendere inutilizzabile le tre ditte in contemporanea. 
A questo punto, mi sono messo a riflettere su come ridurre l'impatto visivo in modo da poter combinare i vari modelli nella stessa squadra ( Mi rendo conto che probabilmente mi creo io troppi problemi, infatti, nella realtà, le persone hanno altezze ben differenti).
La soluzione si è rivelata molto semplice, ho utilizzato delle rondelle di acciaio dello stesso diametro ma di spessore diverso.. Questo semplice espediente ha permesso di uniformare perfettamente i modelli della Perry con quelli della North Star. Per i vecchi pezzi della Foundry e della Conquest invece, ho dovuto aggiungere un ulteriore spessore utilizzando una vecchia carta telefonica.. Una volta uniformata la base con la materia verde, è bastato aggiungere normale sabbietta ed il gioco è fatto.

As you can see, the difference is substantial even if it is not enough to render unusable the three companies at the same time.
At this point, I started to think about how to reduce the visual impact in order to combine the different miniatures on the same squad (I know that it's probably me and others would probably not bother.. I know that in reality people have very different heights :P ).
The solution proved to be a very simple one, I used some steel washers of the same diameter but of different thickness.. This simple trick made ​​it possible to align perfectly the Perry models with those from North Star. For the old Foundry and Conquest miniatures instead, I had to add an extra layer under the model using a bit of an old phone card.. Once done that, I've used a little of Green Stuff on the base and added some sand and texture and it's all done.

Per ora è tutto, spero che questo breve "articoletto"  si possa rivelare utile anche a voi ed a tutti quelli interessati nel cimentarsi in questo interessantissimo periodo storico...
